Continental Divide Trail Journal – July 9th

Share

We got up late after a noisy night. There were plenty of animal noises and I was sure something was after our food bag. I heard an elk bugling, a coyote howling and a bear turning over rocks…of course Jessie was soundĀ asleep on her new air mattress. We hiked pretty steady until early afternoon and then it started to rain so we pitched the tent and had lunch. Thanks Susannah the goodies were just the spot and we had a fancy italian dinner courtesy of the Closs’s. Not quite as delicious as Rillo’s, but nice none the less.

We did not cover as many miles as we had hoped today, but again the Continental Divide Trail sometimes dictates what you can do. we did get a soda and little debbie from a trail magic box left by Liv….thanks it hit the spot. We decided to not look at the maps for mileage today because it would be depressing so we enjoyed our great campsite and turned in early.
